David Korboe (Ph.D)
Social Development & MERL
David Korboe is a social development analyst and MERL consultant with a passion for transforming the lives of vulnerable and marginalised groups. He is an advocate of ethical practice in all spheres of life and comes to the team with over 25 years’ professional experience in evaluating and supporting social development projects. A passionate practitioner of inclusive approaches and collective impact, he has taught participatory methods to development practitioners and led one of Africa’s earliest participatory poverty assessments in the 1990s.

He has operated as a solo consultant since 1999, conducting over 80 assignments for bilateral and multilateral development agencies, nonprofits and businesses. He has undertaken assignments in Ghana, India, Mozambique, Sierra Leone, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Previous clients include ActionAid, Associates for Global Change (USA), Cadbury/ Mondelēz, Canadian Parliamentary Centre, Danida, DFID (UK, Ghana, Mozambique), Downs Syndrome South Africa (DSSA), the French Government, IBIS (Ghana, Sierra Leone), IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre, JICA, Mott MacDonald, Oxfam (Ghana, Sierra Leone), Plan, Save the Children-UK, Source Trust, STAR Ghana, UNCHS-Habitat, UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, Uni. of Newcastle upon Tyne, Urban Aid, VSO, the World Bank, WUSC and several Ghanaian ministries (Education, Health, Social Welfare, and Works and Housing). Prior to 1999, he worked primarily as an academic, publishing his research in scholarly peer-reviewed international journals.
